Coming home
February 8, 2012
There’s a dirt track from my village thru to Jl Raya Uluwatu that passes these gates. This short cut is a favorite with all the locals… including the resident livestock. One particular evening a couple of cows decided to crash-tackle me as I returned home. The last thing I recall was a cow’s eye at point blank.. just before my bike, board & person plowed into a large cactus patch – the only patch along the entire trail. Every spike extracted (there were hundreds) became a festering infection – not to mention all the skin and flesh removed. It’s years since the incident… but everytime I pass by – the memory returns… everytime..

When I saw this image, I was expecting a story with a vaguely spiritual angle to it. Instead I winced and laughed. expectations thwarted – not a bad thing sometimes.
My expectations of cruising home to warm shower also thwarted – assumptions… assumptions..
Ouch…poor old you Bear. I cringe just thinking about it.
